I Love LB
The I Love LB group is a young and vibrant, not-for-profit organisation made up totally from volunteer local townspeople and business owners who want to make the twin towns of Leighton Buzzard and Linslade vibrant, exciting, relevant and a great experience for everyone. We are dedicated to Leighton Buzzard and Linslade, their history, their community and continued well being both now, and in the future.
Our organisation aims to foster loyalty to local shops and businesses and ensure that what is on offer meets the needs of all our local residents.
The purpose of the I Love LB group is to promote for the public benefit, urban regeneration in and around the market town of Leighton Buzzard and Linslade by any or all of the following means:
- The maintenance, improvement or provision of public amenities
- The preservation of buildings or sites of historical or architectural importance
- The protection or conservation of the environment
- The promotion of the economic activity of the town centre
- The organisation of community events to sustain and encourage social interaction between all members of society in the town
- The promotion of the town as a destination for business, leisure and community activities
Now in it's 4th year the group is getting stronger every day, stronger relationships with the Town and Central Bedfordshire Councils plus local Schools, Volunteer & Charity Groups and residents alike means we can sometimes at least, get points of view across that sometimes can make a difference to our town.
The group are heavily involved in discussions with the Town Council, Developers and Consultants regarding projects such as:
* The Big Plan
* Greening of the High Street
* Streetscape and making the Town Centre a more pleasurable place to be
* Development of the 'South Side' of Town Centre
* Development of Smiths Meadow
We are also responsible for staging Town Centre events such as:
* The I Love LB Christmas Shopping Weekend - a 3 day event held over the last weekend of November, including Switching on the towns Christmas Illuminations, Grand Firework Display, Late Night Christmas Shopping, Fun Fair, Live Bands and Music, Street Entertainment, Christmas Market.
* The I Love LB Summer Festival - held this year in June and including a Locally Produced Food Market, Locally produced Craft Fair, a Wedding and Fashion Fair, Classic Car Show (with circa 130 classic & Vintage Cars on display) Live music, Rock & Roll Dance Display plus various other entertainers and eateries etc.
We are always working to develop the group and what we can do to make Leighton Buzzard more of a thriving, vibrant and exciting place to be and welcome ideas and input from everybody out there, whatever your role or position in life may be.
